The tales included are: 'The Light Princess'; 'The Giant's Heart'; 'The Shadows'; 'Cross Purposes'; and the first appearance of 'The Golden Key'. Twelve illustrations by Arthur Hughes engraved on wood by the Dalziel brothers. 16mo. [8],308 pp., + [4] pp. publisher's advertisements dated December 1866. Original publisher's green cloth binding elaborately decorated in gilt and black, periwinkle blue coated endpapers, a.e.g. Contemporary ink ownership on ffep. Cloth shows some general light soiling and wear, slight rippling along bottom edge of top board, and has been neatly repaired at the base of spine. Text and illustrations are mostly clean but for a few instances of soiling and light foxing to opening and closing leaves, including the frontipiece illustration and title-page.
