CHILD'S ASSISTANT TO A KNOWLEDGE OF... VERMONT

1831. Item #62235

HALL, S[amuel] R[ead]. THE CHILD'S ASSISTANT TO A KNOWLEDGE OF THE GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY OF VERMONT. Third edition, with plates. Montpelier, VT.: Published by J. S, Walton, 1831. Folding frontispiece map of Vermont with hand-coloring, twelve wood-engraved text illustrations. 75 pp. 12mo., cloth back, illustrated paper over thin wooden boards, edges stained pale green. Patches of light to moderate foxing throughout, and heavy foxing to endleaves; one leaf (pp. 55-56) has a 2 1/4" closed tear. The binding is edgeworn, sunned and soiled, with a large damp spot to upper board at the spine. Nonetheless, this is still a very good copy, having nice impressions of the plates, with only superficial flaws common to books of that time. (Bruntjen, American Imprints, 7409; not in Howes or Sabin).
