1868. Item #77871
MCCALL, George A., Major-General LETTERS FROM THE FRONTIERS, written during a period of thirty years' service in the army of the United States. Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott & Co., 1868. 12mo. 539 pp. Publisher's brown cloth, gilt-stamped spine title, brown coated endpapers. Ex-library, with all the usual marks; the accession date on the bookplate is April 22, 1868. This copy is offered as is because the cloth binding and endpapers are dampstained and soiled, and the lower joint is starting. But the text is clean; the binding sound; and it is still a readable copy. The text covers the period before the American Civil war, including the Seminole, Black Hawk and Mexican wars. (Howes M30, Larned 2057, Sabin 42970).
