THE WEAKNESS OF BRUTUS EXPOSED

1888. Item #84931

WEBSTER, Pelatiah. THE WEAKNESS OF BRUTUS EXPOSED: or Some Remarks in Vindication of the Constitution. By a Citizen of Philadel-phia. [One of the series PAMPHLETS ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, Published during its Discussion by the People, 1787-1788.] Edited by Paul Leicester Ford. [Brooklyn, NY: Historical Printing Club, 1888]. 16 pp. Unopened. An octavo-size pamphlet, side-sewn and glued into plain paper wrappers. Fine within but wrappers are split at crease and have shallow edge-chipping. Very good overall. Webster wrote a number of pamphlets on the finances and government of the United States. This essay, first published in November 1787, is a response to the first essay by Brutus (possibly Thomas Treadwell, of Suffolk County, NY) that appeared in the New York Journal.
