First edition, later printing. xi + [1] + 305 pp. 8vo., orange cloth stamped in black with color pastedown illustration to front cover. Spine sunned, light soil to top edge of front board. Four color plates including frontispiece, and b/w illustrations in the text. In fair original dust jacket, moderate soil and several closed tears, 1 inch chips at rear spine joint and top rear panel corner, and two inch chip excised from bottom of front panel under author's name. Two children, whose father runs the boilers of a great museum, discover that at night the stuffed animals and the wax Indians "come alive."
