[PHOTOGRAPHY - 20TH CENTURY] 14 INDUSTRIAL SNAPSHOTS: INSULATING OF WIRE AND CABLE LINES. n.d., ca. 1930's. Fourteen 2.5 x 3.5 snapshots, white borders with rough edges, sepia tone. Loosely inserted in slots on three thin cardstock sheets, which are stapled to the manila folder containing them. Photos in very good condition, a few slightly creased corners, and with numerals stamped in ink on the reverse. Typed captions include: Mixing Rubber Insulating Compounds, Tube Insulating Process, Strip Insulating Process, Insulating Wire and Cable, Wire Stranding (Larmouth Strander), Laying Up Cable, Taking Up Lead Enclosed Cable, Lead Encased Cable Leaving Press, Cable Core Entering Lead Encasing Press, Covering Wire and Cable with Lead Sheath, Covering Wire with Cotton Braid (Wardwell Machines), Applying Lacquer Fininsh to Cotton Braided Wire, Wax Saturating of Cotton Braided Wire and Cable, and Wax Finishing of Cotton Braided Wire and Cable. Estimating the date to be mid-nineteen thirties based on clothing of the men and women working the machines.
