[SÔSAKU HANGA] TAKEI Takeo. KANPON SAKUHIN SHINRUI TSÛSHIN; SHINRUI MEIBO. Tôkyô, 1963 - 1981. A set of 24 issues of 'Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Tsushin', together with two issues of 'Takei Takeo Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Meibo', by the famous Japanese illustrator, Takei Takeo (1894-1983).
'Shinrui Tsushin' were small booklets sent out to the subscribers of Takei Takeo's 'Kanpon Sakuhin' series that included behind-the-scenes information on the production of the series as well as advance information on the upcoming works. The upper wrappers of each of the 24 issues included in this set feature an original tipped-in color woodblock-printed illustration designed by Takei, and a few of the issues include loosely inserted ephemeral material sent to a subscriber by the publisher.
The additional two issues of 'Takei Takeo Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Meibo' record the names, phone numbers, addresses, etc., of the subscribers. Both the 'Shinrui Tsushin' and 'Shinrui Meibo' booklets were privately published, and only sent to subscribers.
This set of 'Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Tsushin' includes issues: 13 (1963), 14 (1964), 16 (1965), 17 (1965), 18 (1966), 19 (1966), 20 (1967), 21 (1967), 22 (1968), 23 (1968), 24 (1969), 30 (1972), 33 (1973), 34 (1974), 35 (1974), 36 (1975), 37 (1975), 38 (1976), 39 (1976), 40 (1977), 41 (1977), 46 (1980), 47 (1980), and 48 (1981). The two issues of 'Takei Takeo Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Meibo' are from 1975 and 1977.
A scarce large collection of one of Takei's overlooked privately published series. Original wrappers, a few slightly creased, very light wear to extremities. Upper wrappers occasionally lightly waved due to the woodblock-printed title slips being glued on. Title page of issue 40 glued in one place to the upper wrapper. Unobtrusive brush and ink note to verso of upper wrapper of issue 46. Otherwise near fine.
24 issues + 2 issues. 14.8 x 10.3 cm ('Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Tsushin') ; 11.1 x 15.4 cm ('Takei Takeo Kanpon Sakuhin Shinrui Meibo'). Text in Japanese.
