Item #90533

Noda Tetsuya 野田哲也 (b. 1940). Diary: Sept 3rd ‘99, in Seoul a.p. Signed in pencil in the bottom margin with thumbprint. Color silkscreen and woodblock print depicting a pair of women's shoes next to a table with books, fruit, and a cup and saucer. Noda, a student of Tadashige Ono 小野 忠重, combined photography and printmaking to create an award-winning technique that has become his signature. His work chronicles the personal and the everyday, as with this print, from his “Diary” series.

This “artist’s proof,” like many of Noda’s prints, has a wonderful pale coloration, an opacity of surface through which one glimpses a special world of the everyday as found art. A lady’s shoes, a coffee cup, an English language Korean newspaper, fruit. A morning in Seoul, it seems. Bot whose shoes are those? An interesting work of a modern Master.
