Signed by the artist. 25.5 ×19.5cm orihon with yellow hardcover boards housed in a chitsu 25.5 x 20cm. 39 original multicolor stencil prints designed by Okamura in varying sizes approx 10.5 x 7.5cm. Two pages with the book owner’s name and the subject of each work in printed Japanese text. Colorful Ex Libris woodcuts in the Sosaku Hanga (Creative Print Movement) tradition.

Born in Tottori Prefecture, near the Japan Sea, Okamura Kichiemon 岡村吉右衛門 (1916-2002) studied the traditional Japanese art of dyeing and weaving in the 1930s and was a student of the Living National Treasure and well-known Mingei artist Serizawa Keisuke. Okamura is Serizawa Keisuke's most accomplished student and his equal in many respects, with a pictorial idiom of his own. Okamura lived and worked in China, Hokkaido and Okinawa, absorbing the culture and learning the arts and crafts of these regions. One of the leading artists of Mingei Folk Art and a renowned scholar of papermaking, his work is held in collections internationally and across Japan.
