Incomplete. 7 cho with the 2nd side of cho missing. 8 full color, original woodblock prints with decorated front wrapper and Japanese text with furigana for children. Front wrapper and final woodcut have the artist's name. Detached page lists 16 titles in the series, including this one. Publisher and date taken from a title in the series found in NDL online.

Hachiman Tarō 八幡太郎 is the tale of the exploits of the Heian period warlord Minamoto Yoshi’ie 源義家. Nishimori Takeki 西森武城 (1862-1913) was the author of this volume in the series of Children’s Educational Historical Tales (Jidō Kyōiku Rekishi Banashi 兒童教育 歴史噺 Also 児童教育.)

Front wrapper, initial and final pages are detached. Heavy chipping to edges of pages and wrapper. A number of split cho reveal reused pages with text tucked inside for backing. Rear wrapper is missing. Incomplete. Plain, uncreped paper. First time we have handled it - an interesting fragment and priced accordingly.
