Kanzaki Onjun 神埼温順, artist. Tōsei 濤聲 (涛声). Gohachi 吾八, publisher. Showa 56 August 15 [1981]. 30 x 30.5 handmade paper portfolio with clasps and centered title slip. Handmade Japanese book string-bound Japanese-style, fukuro-toji has brown covers, pink string, and a centered title in black. The rear cover has a small stenciled design in the center in black. [19] cho. The first cho has Japanese text brushed in ink, gives the date of August 15 of Showa 56 [1981] and is inscribed and signed by artist and printmaker Kanzaki Onjun 神埼温順 (1932 -). Done in 30 copies, this being “west” (nishi, 西), likely one of four personal, artist copies.

The title page hasTōsei 濤聲 (涛声) [Voice of the Waves or The Sound of the Waves] stenciled in dark blue with light blue on the edges. Striking katazome 型染 stenciled artwork, some full-page, in bold colors, with kana syllabary on the facing page in black. Intricate stenciled images, including fish, a full-page dragon, and Buddhist iconography.

Foxing throughout. Fading to cover the portfolio.
