Nihon Ippa TENRYÛDÔ GASOKU Zen

1901. Item #91077

Tenryûdô. Nihon Ippa TENRYÛDÔ GASOKU Zen. Kanazawa Kyuubei, Kanazawa. Meiji 34 [1901] 27.5 x 19.0 cm. O^hon. It is not clear when the first version of this work appeared. Mitchell quotes Gardner as saying in his BM bibliography that the work was done in 1797.... I have also seen claims of it being printed in 1804 or 5. What is clear is that the original is unlocated, save that one copy in London. This is a reprint, beautifully accomplished in Meiji 34 [1901] in Kanazawa.... the city known as "Little Kyoto" on the Japan Sea. As the original was said to have some 13 prints in sumi and color of grapes and their vines, this one appears to have quite a bit of added material to the original. Very nearly fine condition and impression overall.

Price: $1,850.00
