[DESIGN] Kobayashi GYOKUNEN. MEKURUTSUKI. Kyoto: Unkindo^, Meiji 37 [1904] 25 X 36 cm. Oblong folio, tassel-bound. #527 in the MEIJI TAISHO^ ZUANSHU^ NO KENKYU^. 24 full page color woodblock print designs and 1 page of woodblock printed calligraphy. Striking images, very scarce book. Gyokunen is one of the finest of the Unkindo^ designers, but he died young and his works are few. This copy has the images and page of calligraphy, but is missing its covers and the colophon from the inside of the back cover.... It is enclosed in a folder.... As such it is a "noble fragment" and is priced to reflect that.
