First edition, limited to only 100 copies, of which this is number 37. Bookplate of the art historian Charles Francis Bell, first Keeper of the Fine Art Department, Ashmolean Museum, with a note indicating that the book had been a gift from Arthur Church. Small folio, heavily illustrated throughout with 40 pages of collotypes of Church's remarkable collection of tsuba. A very unusual and valuable reference, and quite scarce. Very good, a few pages loosening. Green buckram covers, gilt.
