[EHON] Tani BUNCHO, artist. NIHON MEISAN ZUE 3 vols. Edo, [n.d, after 1812]. 26.3 x 18.7 cm. String-bound, fukuro-toji, original printed paper title labels, original blindstamped, mountain-patterned covers. B+W woodblock depictions of the "Famous Mountains of Japan." A work justly famed for its accurate representation of the mountains in question. According to Mitchell, p.435, it was the third issue of 1812 which changed the title to Nihon Meisan Zue, as here. This was printed thereafter, as the printing does show a bit of wear compared to other copies of the third issue we have seen, but it retains the freshness and vigor of line for which the book is known. Its condition is very good overall.
