Blindstamped patterned cream paper covers, string-bound Japanese-style, fukuro-toji. The interesting and now increasingly uncommon translation of Aesop's Fables into Japanese from the English version of Thomas James. Illustrated throughout in b+w (WITH the use of grey blocks, preferred state thus) woodcuts by the famed artist Kawanabe Gyôsai, the illustrations based on the English original.
