[MEISHOKI] Akatsuki KANENARI; Urakawa KOUSA KONPIRA SANKEI MEISHO ZUE. 6 vols. 25.4 x 18.1 cm. The colophon is dated Kouka 4 [1847]. This lovely meishoki was composed by Akenari, a painter and illustrator of considerable reputation, as was Urakawa Kosa. The Konpira shrine complex on the island of Shikoku was one of the three most popular pilgrimage sites in Edo era Japan, along with Ise and Mount Fuji. An unusual example of the meishoki genre, from the last decades of the Edo period... Very clean, very good impressions throughout, in a lovely clasped chitsu case.
